Feestelijke opening buurtpark Mariaberg en Blauwe Loper

[Maastricht | 13 juni 2024] Donderdagavond zijn de Blauwe Loper en het nieuwe buurtparkje in Mariaberg officieel in gebruik genomen. Samen met de bewoners is de afgelopen tijd gewerkt aan de inrichting van het buurtpark. Waarin ontmoeting centraal staat. Dat kan onder andere in de nieuwe gemeenschappelijke ruimte 'De Binnenloper'. Een naam die door de bewoners is bedacht en deze avond is onthuld.

Buurtpark

Het park is samen met de bewoners van Mariaberg ontworpen. In het park is ruimte voor ontmoeting en beweging in het groen. Zo zijn er een wadi (een systeem voor Water Afvoer Drainage en Infiltratie), stepping stones, een pomp met waterloop voor de kinderen en een ontmoetingsplek centraal in het park gecreëerd. Door de kinderen van de buurt is samen met wethouder Manon Fokke een tijdscapsule ingegraven. Hierin zitten foto’s van toen en nu, verhalen en (strip)tekeningen van kinderen.

Avond van de buren

Het buurtnetwerk organiseerde samen met Trajekt, als variant op de jaarlijkse burendag, tijdens de feestelijke opening ook de 'avond van de buren'. In het park vonden allerlei activiteiten plaats en genoten buurtbewoners van een hapje en een drankje. Voor de kinderen waren er allerlei spellen en ze konden zich laten schminken. Voor volwassenen werden diverse workshops georganiseerd zoals vlinderdoosjes maken, lino snijden en levensboom schilderen. 

Blauwe Loper

De Blauwe Loper is een fiets- en wandelverbinding tussen de buurten Trichterveld, Mariaberg en Blauwdorp en  verbindt buitenwijken zoals Daalhof met de binnenstad. Eind 2021 zijn de werkzaamheden aan de Blauwe Loper gestart. Bouwbedrijf Van Wijnen heeft voor woningstichting Servatius 135 appartementen, twee woon-werkwoningen en een gemeenschappelijke ruimte gerealiseerd in Mariaberg. In 2022 startte aannemer Bloem Infra in opdracht van de gemeente met de aanleg van het park en het fietspad.

Festive opening of Mariaberg neighborhood park and Blauwe Loper 

[Maastricht | June 13, 2024] On Thursday evening, the Blauwe Loper and the new neighborhood park in Mariaberg were officially opened. Over the past period, work has been done in collaboration with the residents on the design of the neighborhood park, focusing on creating a space for social interaction. This can be experienced in the new communal area called 'De Binnenloper', (Walk Inn) a name suggested by the residents and unveiled this evening.

Neighborhood Park

The park was designed in collaboration with the residents of Mariaberg. It offers space for social gatherings and physical activities in a green environment. Features include a rain garden, stepping stones, a water pump with a stream for children, and a central meeting point within the park. A time capsule was buried by the neighborhood children along with city councilor Manon Fokke, containing photos from the past and present, stories, and drawings by children.

Neighbors' Evening

The neighborhood community, in partnership with Trajekt, organized a 'Neighbors' Evening' as a variation of the annual Neighbor Day during the festive opening. Various activities took place in the park, allowing residents to enjoy food and drinks. Children participated in games and face painting, while adults could join workshops such as making butterfly boxes, linocut printing, and tree of life painting.

Blauwe Loper

The Blauwe Loper serves as a cycling and walking connection between the sub-districts of Trichterveld, Mariaberg, and Blauwdorp, linking suburban areas like Daalhof to the city center. Construction on the Blauwe Loper began at the end of 2021. Construction company Van Wijnen constructed 135 apartments, two live-work units, and a communal space in Mariaberg for housing association Servatius. In 2022, contractor Bloem Infra, commissioned by the municipality, started the construction of the neighborhood park and the bike lane.
